Lee James, DVM (with Luther)
Dr. James graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1976. He bought Greenbank Animal Hospital in 1977 where it evolved from a part-time practice to a full-time practice. The first ten years included the care of farm animals. He is the proud father of a son and daughter and very proud grandfather of 2 grand-daughters. He is currently awaiting the arrival of another grandchild in Taiwan. He has been adopted by 2 feline companions - Frimousse and Luther, both domestic short-hairs. His main hobby is "construction" and he is presently very happy building his cottage. He also enjoys cooking (attended French-cooking classes), reading, travelling and having coffee by the lake.
Rob Kartes, DVM (with Millie and Carly)
Dr. Kartes graduated in 1986 from the University of Guelph. He worked in emergency medicine and surgery for 3 years prior to relocating to Barrhaven and Manotick and becoming a partner in 1990. He and his wife and 4 children are loved and guarded by their fluffy dogs Carly and Millie.
Paige Willis, DVM (with Bisou)
A 1997 graduate of the University of Georgia, Paige practiced large and small animal medicine near Atlanta for 4 years. In 2001, Paige moved to Ottawa with her family including a faithful dog of 12 years, fish and a small parrot. Her family includes her husband, three children, the small parrot from Georgia (Australian Eastern Rosella named Rosie) and a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier named Bisou. Paige became a full partner in the practice in 2006. She and her family enjoy mountain hiking, biking, orienteering, geocaching, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing. Bisou especially enjoys family hikes and agility training. Bisou does an excellent job of looking after the family.
Mark Rowett, DVM (with Winnie)
Dr. Rowett is a 1984 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College and has been involved in small animal medicine in the fields of emergency, exotic animal, and general practice. He has a special interest in small mammal medicine. He is married with three daughters. He enjoys golf, curling, and photography and spending time with his two birds, Rudy and Bella, and his dog, Winnie.
Miki Shibata, DVM (with Hali, Fred and Blink)
Dr. Shibata is originally from Waterloo, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Guelph in 2001 and has been an associate veterinarian with Greenbank and Rideau Animal hospitals since then. In 2010, Miki became a full partner. Miki and her husband Shawn live with 6 furry companions including four cuddly cats named Sprite, Fred, Quincy, and Kitten. Their two crazy dogs – Hali and Blink enjoy frisbee, flyball, and agility.
Mark Liepmann, DVM (with Remi)
Dr Mark Liepmann is 1986 graduate of The Western College of Veterinary Medicine. An early interest in complementary medicine led to training in homeopathy & chiropractic, while an interest in diagnostic imaging led to training in ultrasound. On moving to Ottawa he undertook further training & received certification in laboratory animal medicine. Mark offers chiropractic services at Greenbank Animal Hospital. He has four children, two rescued (& very fat) lab rats named Rats Holly and Clarice and one Black Russian Terrier puppy named Josie. In his spare time Mark enjoys swimming, kayaking, snowboarding & martial arts.
Erica Mitchell, DVM
Erica is originally from Thunder Bay, Ont. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2009 and, after spending the summer working in Thunder Bay, she decided to settle in the Ottawa area. Dr. Mitchell has been an associate at GAH since May 2010.She has 3 cats at home and is hoping to add a Boston Terrier to her furr-family in the near future. Outside of work she enjoys hockey, spending time at the gym, and travelling.
